Excursions - Introduction

Geology is a Field Science. You can learn a lot in lectures and books, but the really worthwhile stuff is learnt as you sit on the rocks looking at them and asking all sorts of questions.

We in WEGA are very good at the sitting and asking; and we get to do it in some very pretty places! This session some of the pretty places include the Black Mountains, Dorset, Dartmoor, the Cotswolds and Scotland. And last session we went to Anglesey, Charmouth, Mid-Wales, the Forest of Dean and Northern Ireland.

Many people, when they first come on excursions, think that they are in for some trial by fire - far from it! Excursions are where you find out about everything - rocks, fellow members, leaders, the weather, the wildlife, the vegetation, the history, the politics - everything. And you do it in the easiest and friendliest way possible. No question is too silly, - the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Insurance - WEGA members are now covered by the Group's insurance not only against claims by a third party, but also member to member injury.

We have been told that to make claims on our insurance policy, it would be advisable for us to have a Health and Safety Policy. This is described on the page accessible from the button on the left.
